South Florida is the most severely cost-burdened region in the country when it comes to housing costs, a new SmartAsset report indicates.
The report included four South Florida cities – Miami (No. 2), Hialeah (No. 3), Pompano Beach (No. 4) and Hollywood (No. 7) – among the Top 10 municipalities where residents spent 50 percent or more of their income on housing costs.
Compared the SmartAsset’s last annual report, there was little change in the cities that made up the Top 10. Miami remained in the Top 5, while Newark, New Jersey, was once again No. 1.
