A 360,989-square-foot mixed-use project has been proposed along the ocean in Pompano Beach by heavyweight New York developer Chetrit Group and Hollywood partner Ari Pearl.
The city’s Development Review Committee will consider the site plan for the Oceanside Pompano Beach project on Aug. 3. The application was submitted by JJ Land Realty for the 3.75-acre site at 20 N. Ocean Blvd, at the end of Atlantic Boulevard. The developers acquired it from WCI Communities for $38.5 million in 2009.
Nichols Brosch Wurst Wolfe & Associates designed a project that would combine a hotel, condos, restaurants, retail and event space.
A 24-story tower would have 77 condos, including six one-bedroom units, 35 two-bedroom units and 36 three-bedroom units. The hotel’s 22-story hotel tower would have 303 rooms, including 49 for condo hotels. There would be a pool deck for both the condo and hotel towers. The project would also have 9,875 square feet of indoor and outdoor restaurants, 4,836 square feet of retail, a 21,357-square-foot spa, a 12,31-square-foot banquet hall and 575 parking spaces.
Boca Raton attorney Bonnie Miskel, who represents the developer in the application, couldn’t be reached for comment.
This is the second major project planned in Pompano Beach by the Chetrit Group, led by Meyer Chetrit and Joseph Chetrit. They also secured approval for122 multifamily units at 2629 N. Riverside Drive and 2507 N. Ocean Blvd. along the Intracoastal Waterway. Further south, Chetrit Group plans to build a massive mixed-use project along the Miami River.
The Oceanside Pompano Beach is the latest proposal in a wave of development hitting the city’s beachside.
The 68-unit Sabbia Beach condo is already under construction, the Related Group has approvals for 130 condos on the beach, Dev Motwani has teamed with Alliance Residential to propose a 211-unit apartment complex and he could follow that up with a 92-unit condo tower, Pure Residences would have 187 hotel rooms a few blocks from the beach, the Ocean Sapphire Condominium would have 29 units, Ocean Park Beach Residences would have 27 units near a public park, and a 22,845-square-foot restaurant and retail center is planned along the Intracoastal Waterway by Tsatas Acquisitions.
